Two fatalities occur after serious car accident
As many Maryland residents know, when a car accident occurs, it can happen seemingly instantly. One moment, everything is fine–the next, an individual’s life could be changed forever. Such is the case of a recent car accident that resulted in two fatalities.
The accident occurred in early September around 7:40 p.m. According to the preliminary investigation, a 55-year-old male had a 27-year-old female as a passenger on his motorcycle. As the motorcycle entered an intersection, it was struck by an SUV driven by a 57-year-old male who was attempting to make a left turn in the intersection. The operator as well as its passenger were thrown from the motorcycle.
After the initial collision, the motorcycle struck an SUV, which was being operated by a 53-year-old female. The SUV was stopped at the intersection waiting to make a right. Subsequently, both the motorcycle as well as the second SUV caught fire. The drivers of both SUV’s suffered minor injuries, but the motorcycle riders were both fatally wounded and died at the scene.
This accident is currently still under investigation. Although the cause as well as fault are still being determined, it is possible that when charges are formally filed, the motorcyclists’ loved ones may seek to file a wrongful death claim. Successfully navigated, this type of claim can result in financial compensation awarded to the car accident victim’s family members as restitution for medical costs, funeral arrangements and other end-of-life expenses incurred. These individuals often consult an experienced Maryland personal injury attorney to assess their situation and assist them in litigating this type of claim.
