Three people seriously injured after recent car accident
There are many cases in which a car accident was simply unavoidable. However, it is rare that individuals involved in the car accident were following all of the rules of the road without distractions. For example, the cause of many accidents is traced back to either a distracted or reckless driver, or an individual driving under the influence. A recent car accident in Maryland resulted in the serious injury of three individuals.
The accident took place in Charles County on a recent Wednesday afternoon, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office. It occurred when the 22-year-old male driver of a car headed east was negotiating a turn but lost control of his vehicle. As a result, his vehicle struck the back of another car that was headed west.
After the first collision, the car that was struck fishtailed, and subsequently collided head-on with another car driven by a 21-year-old man in the eastbound lane. That vehicle then collided with a telephone pole, head-on. The driver who initially lost control of his vehicle as well as the driver and 19-year-old female passenger of the last car that was hit were airlifted from the scene of the accident. They suffered serious injuries but are expected to survive.
Reportedly, this crash is still under investigation and charges are pending. It is likely that the driver and passenger in the last car that was struck will incur medical bills and other expenses as a result of the car accident. Victims of car accidents such as these two individuals have the option of filing a personal injury claim in a Maryland civil court. If it can be proved that the accident was indeed the result of the first driver’s negligence, a monetary award may be ordered to help the victims offset the financial burdens that typically accompany accidents of this nature.
