Serious injury after Maryland car accident
Maryland is a busy hub for commercial and business transportation activities. With two major cities within an hour of each other, the highways and byways are usually bustling with motor vehicle activity. Recently, a man was fatally injured and his passenger suffered serious injury when a truck struck their vehicle while passing through a busy intersection.
State troopers were called to the scene of an accident on March 29 around 1:30 p.m. A roll-off single unit truck was headed west when the light he was approaching turned red. A 49-year-old male driving an SUV pulled into the intersection when his light had turned green. The truck smashed into the driver’s side of the SUV, killing the driver. A female passenger in the SUV was flown to a local trauma center and is reported to be in critical condition.
An investigation is underway. The state police commercial enforcement team will inspect the truck and thoroughly investigate the scene of the accident. Once the investigation is complete, state police, in conjunction with the State’s Attorney, will determine if charges will be filed.
A car accident can be a traumatic event that can take lives or seriously alter the rest of someone’s life. Serious injury can leave the victim and his or her family with tremendous debt, resulting from medical bills, loss of wages and a future of pain and suffering. Maryland residents who have suffered a serious injury as the result of another driver’s negligence can file a personal injury claim in civil court. The surviving family members of those killed may be entitled to file a wrongful death claim. With the help of a knowledgeable attorney, one can successfully file and navigate the steps involved in a personal injury or wrongful death claim and possibly receive financial compensation to help cover monetary losses.
