Recent Maryland car accident: 2 seriously injured in collision
Traffic accidents can create a major impact on the physical, emotional and financial well-being of victims and their families. In addition to injuries suffered in a crash, a car accident victim may end up with significant medical bills, lost wages due to his or her inability to work, and other types of emotional and mental trauma. There are avenues for recourse for victims in the Maryland legal system of civil courts.
The accident occurred on a recent Thursday evening in December, police said. It happened in Sunderland, Calvert County, around 5:11 p.m. Deputies with the county sheriff’s office were dispatched to the scene of a serious crash, where they discovered two vehicles that had been in a serious rear-end collision.
One woman was waiting to make a left-hand turn when her vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle. The woman in the first vehicle was rushed to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries suffered in the crash. Two of the four passengers of the trailing vehicle, whose driver was considered at fault for the collision, were flown to a trauma center to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. This accident is still under investigation.
When a car accident like this results in serious injuries, the victims may be entitled to financial relief. An individual who negligently operates a vehicle in Maryland may be required to pay for documented damages that result. However, the victim will first be required to prove that the party believed at fault was negligent in a way that either caused or contributed to the accident and injuries that followed. Victims typically begin this process by consulting an experienced Maryland attorney to assess the validity of their claim.
