Police say negligent driver responsible for Maryland crash

Law Offices of Joel L. Katz, LLC Team

Whether driving for employment or personal errands, the highway can be a dangerous place. Road conditions, weather and other drivers are all factor that can make operating a motor vehicle a treacherous chore. A Maryland motorist is responsible for following all traffic laws. When a negligent driver disregards stop signs and traffic signals, the driver’s life as well as the lives of other motorists are in danger.

Traveling eastbound through a busy intersection, a small car struck another vehicle that was traveling southbound through the same intersection. The adult male and his passenger, an adult female, who were in the offending vehicle, were taken to a local shock trauma center. They are said to be have suffered life-threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle that was struck, an adult female, was transported to a local hospital and is being treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

The accident, which occurred around 5:30 p.m., is believed to be the fault of the driver of the small car. Authorities say he failed to stop for a red signal, but charges have not been filed yet. Police are continuing to investigate.

Victims of a car accident may be able to seek compensation for injuries suffered due to a presumed negligent driver. Injured parties may be entitled to compensation for medical services rendered and lost wages that are a direct result of the accident. Should the person who was operating the vehicle at the time of the accident perish in the crash, victims may be able to file a claim against the estate of the deceased. With the aid of an experienced attorney, Maryland residents involved in a car accident can gain guidance and the process required to seek damages.
