Maryland man found guilty of manslaughter after liability proved
No matter the reason, fleeing from police to avoid a Maryland traffic stop usually never ends peacefully. Motorists who happen to be on the same road at the time of the poor decision often become a witness or a liability, as the suspect places not only his or her life and future in danger, but also those around them. A family who has suffered the unthinkable will hopefully find some peace in the driver who caused the accident being found guilty of grossly negligent manslaughter.
A 32-year-old male has been convicted on multiple charges that result from a crash that occurred in Glen Burnie. The accident occurred in April of 2016 when the man was attempting to flee from the police who were following him. An officer had been attempting to stop the suspect when he sped off.
The driver made it about four miles before he crashed into an oncoming vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, a 66-year-old female, died as a result of the accident. The at-fault driver is scheduled to receive his sentence in January.
The heartbreak and devastation that is often left by the sudden yet preventable death of a loved one can be unimaginable. Families that are left to cover the medical and/or final expenses have the option to seek legal recourse in civil court with a liability lawsuit. A Maryland attorney can help families to seek monetary damages to help cover the costs incurred by the loved one due to the negligence of another.
