Maryland car accident kills 1, injures 3 others

Law Offices of Joel L. Katz, LLC Team

The effects of a car accident can be far-reaching for victims and their families. Serious injury and death are all too common outcomes. When a fatality occurs due to the negligence of another party to a Maryland car accident, the victim’s family is entitled to file a wrongful death claim.

Police say that a recent head-on crash took the the life of one individual and injured three others. The accident took place in Gambrills on a recent Tuesday morning. According to the authorities, an SUV that was traveling south lost control while negotiating a corner, crossed the center line and then collided with a car head-on.

The woman driving the car was killed at the scene. The SUV driver, as well as his two children, were flown to nearby hospitals. The man was rushed to Shock Trauma with life-threatening injuries while the two children, ages 4 and 7, were flown to a local children’s center. Their conditions are currently unknown. Police believe that speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

The family of the deceased may opt to file a wrongful death claim against the other driver in this car accident. Although such a claim can do little to erase their grief, a successfully presented claim could nonetheless provide some financial relief from the burdens that are often associated with fatal motor vehicle crashes. Compensation derived from a properly litigated claim may be used to cover end of life expenses and related financial losses. A Maryland family who is grieving the loss of a loved one typically consults with an experienced personal injury attorney to advocate on their behalf throughout the claims and litigation process.
