Maryand woman sentenced after deadly car accident

Many factors can contribute to a fender bender. Driver negligence, speeding, distractions or driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs can make the operation of a vehicle dangerous. Driving while under the influence can lead to a car accident that can cost the driver his or her life and possibly the lives of others. Intoxicated or otherwise incapacitated drivers are generally not aware of their surroundings and reflexes can become impaired. Recently, a Maryland woman has learned her fate after an incident in 2016 left one man dead.

The 29-year-old woman was found guilty of vehicular manslaughter. According to police reports, she was operating her vehicle while under the influence of a prescription drug when she drove her car on the wrong side of the road and struck a 78-year-old male. She was also going 55 mph in a 25 mph zone.

The male was taken to a local trauma center. He died approximately three weeks later as a result of his injuries. The woman was not injured in the accident but was later charged with drug manufacturing and distribution after police searched her residence.
