2 killed in Maryland drunk driving accident
Two people have been killed and several others injured in a fiery accident that took place a couple of weeks ago. According to a preliminary investigation, the crash was a drunk driving accident which could have been prevented. While six people were able to escape the crash with just injuries, two lost their lives on a Maryland road that night. The wreck occurred when a Suburban carrying six people crashed into the back of a Jeep with two people in it.
According to the report, the Jeep was traveling northbound when it was rear-ended by the Suburban, which is said to have been traveling at a high rate of speed. Witnesses say that the Suburban then careened off the right side of the road. It continued traveling through a telephone pole and several trees before coming to a rest upside down. It then caught fire.
With the help of onlookers, four people were able to escape the fiery blaze of the Suburban and were flown to the hospital for treatment. The driver and front-seat passenger were not so lucky. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The two in the Jeep also escaped with just injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital. One witness was burned when he pulled a passenger from the blaze.
This crash is still under investigation by Maryland authorities, but the driver is suspected of being the cause of this drunk driving accident. Both driver error and alcohol have been named as factors in the crash. Anyone who has suffered injuries or loss of an immediate family member because of drunk driving can consult a personal injury attorney. This type of lawyer can help a client seek the compensation they need to help cover medical bills, funeral costs, lost time from work and much more.
