1 dead and 2 injured in recent highway car accident
A serious car accident can have serious repercussions on a victim’s life and livelihood. However, the true damage of a car accident does not end there, as the effects often ripple out to the victim’s loved ones and family. Although many Maryland drivers will never have to go through such a difficult experience, for those that do, it helps to not go it alone.
A recent accident occurred in Howard County on a recent Sunday morning in July. Authorities say the incident occurred around 3 a.m. when a vehicle pulled off to the side of the interstate. Two of the three vehicle’s passengers exited the vehicle in order to retrieve a phone charger belonging to one of the two.
A second vehicle crashed into the parked car, causing the driver to be ejected, the Maryland State Police said. Shortly thereafter, a third vehicle struck the ejected driver. The driver was dead at the scene of the accident, while the other two passengers were rushed to shock trauma.
The driver of the second vehicle has been charged with both DUI and manslaughter, while the driver of the third vehicle was charged with DUI. The victims of this senseless crash — as well as the deceased’s loved ones — are likely still reeling from the effects of the crash. When a serious car accident like this has occurred in Maryland in the past, some recovering victims have chosen to hold the negligent drivers responsible by filing personal injury claims against them in civil court. When a victim has succumbed to injuries suffered in an accident, a claim may be filed on the victim’s behalf by a spouse, parent or adult child.
