Police release victims’ names after tragic Maryland accident

Maryland officers recently released a list of victims’ names following a tragic accident involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 81. Six people apparently suffered injuries in the incident. Police also reported that the devastating collision resulted in the loss of one life.

It was just before 5 p.m. on a recent Wednesday when the terrible crash occurred. A vehicle traveling in a northbound lane was apparently struck by a tractor-trailer. The now deceased victim, a 21-year-old female, was a passenger in the vehicle that was hit by the massive truck.

Authorities say the truck operator failed to control his speed to align with a slowing of traffic. After the enormous truck hit the first car, it also crashed into several other vehicles before coming to a halt on the road. Police who responded to the scene say there were a total of seven vehicles involved in the tragic accident.

A 50-year-old man from a nearby town was flown to a shock trauma center in Baltimore after the crash. Five other injured victims were taken to another medical facility for treatment. In the aftermath of the horrible collision, police closed the highway to travelers for at least five hours. Similar Maryland accidents in the past have led to formal litigation when recovering victims have chosen to hold negligent drivers accountable by filing personal injury claims in civil court. In a situation where a victim has succumbed to accident injuries, a claim may be filed on behalf of the decedent by a spouse, adult child or parent.
