Med student struck while riding a motorcycle in Maryland

A person’s death is always a loss to someone. However, that loss seems much more tragic when it comes unexpectedly and as a consequence of an accident that could have likely been prevented. The family of a fourth-year medical school student is grieving his death after he was recently struck while riding a motorcycle in Maryland.

The accident occurred in late August. Reports indicate that the 25-year-old med student was traveling on a motorcycle in the opposite direction as a vehicle driven by a 46-year-old driver. Police claim that the older driver attempted to make a left turn and struck the motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist was transported to a Maryland hospital. Unfortunately, he ultimately died from the injuries he suffered in the accident. The other driver was also treated for injuries, but he is expected to recover. The accident remains under investigation at this time.

Unfortunately, this promising young man’s future was cut too short. As a result, his family must cope with the financial and emotional ramifications of his death. Many people who have been struck while riding a motorcycle — or their loved one in the event of a fatality — have found themselves in a precarious financial situation as they deal with medical bills, loss of wages as well as funeral expenses. However, people in a situation resulting in a death or injury as a result of another’s negligence have the option of seeking financial relief in a Maryland civil court. If they can prove their claims of negligence, the court could see fit to award them with financial damages.
