Maryland car accidents could lead to personal injury claim

For most people across the country, Christmas is a time of traditions and family. However, when car accidents happen on Christmas day, the holiday can forever hold memories of pain and injury. A Christmas day accident in Maryland has sent six people to the hospital this year, some with serious injuries.

The accident occurred in the afternoon. Police claim that the female driver of a pickup truck did not stop at a red light. As a result, the truck slammed into the back of a sedan stopped at the light. The force of the collision pushed the car into the one in front of it, which in turn struck a fourth vehicle.

A teenager in one of the struck vehicles was transported to a hospital with serious injuries. The injuries of others, including a female teenager, are not believed to be life-threatening. While there is no current information available on charges against the woman police claim caused the accident, officials have stated that they believe both alcohol and speed factored into the collision may have caused the accident.

In car accidents such as this, victims are left with an uncertain future. For example, the young man who sustained serious injuries faces a long road to recovery and could potentially suffer long-term effects from his injuries, if he survives. In addition to concerns over his physical health, he and his family will face financial repercussions in the form of medical bills and possibly lost wages, as a parent may need to miss work to provide care for him. In order to help with these expenses, the teenager and his family can pursue a personal injury claim in a Maryland civil court against the driver police believe caused the accident. A verdict in their favor could provide relief for some of the financial stresses created by the accident.
