Head-on car car accident between teens results in serious injury
For teenagers, getting their driver’s license and getting behind the wheel of a vehicle is a big milestone in life. However, the freedom a vehicle affords comes with a great responsibility to themselves and to others on the roads around them. Though many teens begin driving every day in Maryland and most safely operate their vehicles, unfortunately, sometimes a teen is involved in a car accident that results in serious injury to him or herself or others.
A recent car accident between two teen drivers resulted in serious injury to one of them. The accident occurred in Callaway in July, early in the afternoon. It involved two pick-up trucks that collided with one another head-on.
According to the authorities, an 18-year-old teenager was operating his truck when it crossed into the oncoming traffic’s lane. It was at this point that the man’s truck collided head-on with another truck, which was being operated by a 17-year-old teenager from California. Both were rushed to a local medical center, the latter with injuries that were considered life-threatening. Speed may have been a contributing factor.
If it is found that the negligence of the 18-year-old driver was a contributing factor in causing this car accident, the 17-year-old victim will be entitled to file a personal injury claim against him. In Maryland, a successfully filed personal injury claim can sometimes result in financial compensation for the victim. This can be used to lessen some of the financial blows often associated with being involved in a car accident, such as hospital bills and lost pay. An experienced personal injury attorney is often consulted to determine if a valid case exists.
