Fatal Maryland accident could be due to truck driver negligence

Some people spend so much time traveling they sometimes become complacent about safety. In order to maintain personal safety and the safety of others, it is imperative that all drivers remain constantly vigilant. This is especially the case for drivers of commercial vehicles as truck driver negligence can have devastating consequences. The family of one Maryland woman is all too aware of this after a fatal accident involving a box truck took her life.

In early February, the 39-year-old woman was stopped behind another vehicle at a stop light. Both cars were waiting to turn left. As she waited, a box truck driven by a 56-year-old man allegedly slammed into the back of her, pushing her car into the car in front of her.

The woman was transported to an area hospital for treatment, but, unfortunately, died later that night. The drivers of the other two vehicles were not injured. Although police continue to investigate the accident, they have stated that the weather does not appear to have caused the collision.

In addition to funeral expenses, the woman’s family will also have to face her medical bills and the loss of her income, all while trying to come to terms with the news of her death. In order to alleviate some of the financial stress created by the accident, the woman’s surviving family members have the option of filing a wrongful death claim in a Maryland civil court. If they can prove that the accident was a result of truck driver negligence, the court could award them with damages to cover the expenses created by the accident and her death.
