1 suffers a serious injury after 2 cars strike pedestrian

One woman was seriously injured when she was struck by two cars while she was crossing the street. The accident took place in Montgomery County on a recent Friday in March. When a Maryland resident suffers a serious injury as a result of a car accident that was caused by another individual’s negligence, the victim is typically entitled to file a personal injury suit.

The accident occurred around 8 a.m. at an intersection in Silver Spring, Montgomery County Police say. The victim was a 26-year-old woman. While walking through a marked crosswalk at the intersection, the woman was struck by a car driven by a 55-year-old Rockville woman traveling in the eastbound lane of traffic, investigators say.

After being struck by the car, the woman was then struck by an SUV driven by a 49-year-old Silver Spring man that was traveling in the same lane of traffic. How both vehicles managed to strike the woman is currently still under investigation. The victim was rushed to an area hospital for the life-threatening injuries she sustained in the accident.

This accident is still under investigation, but it is possible that one or both of the drivers may face criminal charges in relation to their involvement in this tragic accident. If they are convicted on a charge related to this accident, that conviction might be used as proof of negligence in a personal injury suit filed by the victim in a Maryland civil court. Successfully presented, a personal injury suit typically results in the entry of a monetary judgment that may help the victim of a serious injury with costs incurred as a result of the accident, such as hospital bills, lost pay and physical therapy.
